Reality is a Feed – Antinranta Synestesia creates a dreamlike soundtrack for the age of algorithms

Antinranta Synestesia released their first single, Reality is a Feed on June 5, 2026.

The release paves the way for the band’s full-length album, due out this fall, and introduces a unique ensemble where hypnotic atmospheres, cinematic expression, and content reflecting on the present moment blend into a distinct, recognisable world of their own.

Antinranta Synestesia began a couple of years ago when singer and composer Annina “Auri” Antinranta gathered musicians to perform material from her solo album Collective Displacement. Gradually, the project began to take shape as a distinct, unique, and strongly collective entity. The band began working on new music together, and the group is currently putting the finishing touches on its first full-length album. This long-honed work is the result of the entire band’s efforts.

The band’s roots go deep. Antinranta and bassist Jussi Oskari have been playing together since the beginning of the millennium (including in the prog band Tuvalu from 2003 to 2010). After Tuvalu, both continued with their own projects until the idea of collaborating again arose in 2023. Guitarist Marko Tanninen and drummer Mikko Juvonen also joined the band. In addition to the band, Tanninen and Antinranta collaborate on audiovisual art, and on the upcoming album release, Tanninen also serves as creative technician and producer.

The band’s working environment also reflects its aesthetic. The music, born in a highly visual studio, pays homage to modern television drama and the logic of dreams, yet stands firmly on its own as timeless and independent works.

The first single, Reality is a Feed, floats and rolls forward dreamlike, like Alice’s endless chase after the White Rabbit in Wonderland. The song comments on contemporary life shaped by algorithms, social media, and artificial intelligence.

– A scrolling mind cannot see the whole picture. Our reality is fragmented, curated, and point-like. We no longer experience the world as a complete story, but through a stream: as disconnected moments, news items, encounters, and stimuli that follow one another without a clear beginning or end. “What we pause on begins to feel meaningful, and what we skip over disappears,” Antinranta says.

Antinranta, who works in the tech industry, explores in her music a transition from a reality curated by algorithms toward an increasingly automated era of artificial intelligence. According to her, our shared reality is fragmenting as AI companions begin to handle an ever-greater share of everyday decisions and tasks.

– With what knowledge and skills do we, as humans, intend to live in such a reality? Could we slow down, ask questions, and seek connections between fragments of information? Antinranta ponders.
